Separate the Path, the resource and the damage
Elation can name a Character’s Path, a combat stat or a damage classification. Those uses are related, but they do not mean the same thing. An Elation Character can have ordinary attacks alongside effects explicitly labeled Elation DMG. Read the damage instance, not just the Path icon.
The central sequence is easier to follow in three parts: build Punchline, use Elation Skills during an Aha Instant, then use the effects enabled by Certified Banger. Individual kits can grant these resources or actions in other ways, so this sequence is a starting model rather than an exhaustive rotation.
This guide explains the current terms and their relationships. It does not supply an Elation damage equation or a recommended team. For a particular Character, use their Kit tab to check the exact recipient, trigger, amount and duration.
Know what each term is naming
Start by identifying whether a sentence describes a resource, an action, a state or damage. Similar-looking counters do not automatically serve the same purpose.

| Term | Meaning and effect | Where to read it / important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Punchline | A team resource taken into account by Elation effects. More Punchline strengthens the Elation Skills used in an Aha Instant. | Generation and consumption appear in abilities. An effect can specify a fixed amount instead of consuming the available resource. |
| Aha Instant | The sequence in which Aha leads eligible Elation Characters to use their Elation Skills. | Triggered when Aha acts; some kits grant an extra Aha turn. It is not simply another name for reaching a particular Punchline total. |
| Elation Skill | A separately identified ability with its own effects and damage wording. | Listed in the Character’s kit. Do not substitute their ordinary Skill or assume every use must occur inside an Aha Instant. |
| Certified Banger | A Character-held buff/state associated with the Aha sequence and named kit effects. | Its effects differ between Characters. A kit may grant points directly, extend duration or change which value a calculation uses. |
| Elation DMG | A named damage family, paired with an Element such as Fire or Physical. | Specified by the ability or effect. It is not interchangeable with ordinary ATK-scaled damage or with the follow-up attack label. |
Punchline and Certified Banger answer different questions
Punchline helps describe what the Elation sequence takes into account. Certified Banger tells you about a state held by an individual Character and the effects it enables. An Aha Instant grants Certified Banger, but do not treat the two labels as interchangeable names for one team-wide counter.
For Sparxie, holding Certified Banger enables the Talent’s Fire Elation DMG on her Enhanced Basic ATK and Ultimate. For Yao Guang, it enables Great Boon after allied attacks. Owning the same named state does not mean they gain the same effect.
Check how a kit obtains and retains the state. Evanescia’s Talent explicitly connects Energy gains and Certified Banger gains, with a per-instance limit, while her sixth Eidolon extends its duration. That is an Evanescia rule, not permission to convert every Character’s Energy into Certified Banger. Do not assume all sources share one duration or that refreshing one effect refreshes everything else.
Read who acts and what the action consumes
An Aha Instant normally provides the context for sequential Elation Skills. A kit can modify that sequence. Yao Guang’s Ultimate grants Aha an extra turn with a specified fixed Punchline amount and explicitly does not consume Punchline for that turn. The team’s visible total is therefore not always the amount a particular effect uses.

A named exception is part of the rule
Yao Guang’s Ultimate specifies how its extra Aha turn handles Punchline.
The Elation Trailblazer’s Ultimate supplies another distinction: when the chosen ally has an Elation Skill, it can make that ally use the ability immediately with a fixed Punchline amount. Making one ally use an Elation Skill is not the same instruction as giving Aha another turn.
Trigger language matters after damage occurs too. Yao Guang’s Great Boon is additional Elation DMG, but her Talent explicitly says that triggering it does not count as using an attack. An “after an ally attacks” effect cannot be assumed to trigger again merely because another damage number appeared.
Keep damage terms attached to their own effect
Elation as a stat can be increased or referenced by abilities. Yao Guang’s Zone shares an amount based on her Elation with allies. Sparxie’s Ultimate includes Elation in the wording of its ATK-based Fire damage multiplier, while her Talent separately adds Fire Elation DMG under Certified Banger. A reference to the stat alone is not enough to classify the whole action’s damage.
Merrymaking appears in kit wording as Elation DMG that “merrymakes.” It is an Elation-specific amplification term, not another name for gaining Punchline or holding Certified Banger. Yao Guang’s sixth Eidolon applies it to allies’ Elation DMG; Silver Wolf LV.999’s sixth Eidolon scopes its version to Elation DMG during her Enhanced Basic ATK. Keep that scope when reading the effect.
This terminology does not establish a complete multiplier chain. Do not insert these terms into the ordinary damage formula or assume an ordinary DMG Bonus affects a named Elation instance. Likewise, follow-up attack describes an attack classification, not a synonym for Elation DMG. Read both labels when a kit contains them together.
Some vocabulary belongs to one Character
These examples help you recognize a personal resource or effect before mistaking it for a system-wide rule. Their exact counts and multipliers belong in the Character Kit.

| Term / owner | What it does | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Thrill / Sparxie | A personal resource granted by her Elation Skill that can offset her Skill Point consumption. | Consuming Thrill counts as consuming Skill Points for the stated rules. It is not a second shared Skill Point pool for every ally. |
| Engagement Farming / Sparxie | Improves her enhanced attack’s multipliers and grants one of its specified gifts. | The ability explicitly does not count as using a Skill, despite its relationship to her Skill sequence. |
| Great Boon / Yao Guang | Additional Elation DMG triggered by allied attacks while she holds Certified Banger; a Skill Point-consuming attack adds another trigger. | The trigger itself is not an attack. Its Elation-stat comparison follows her Talent. |
| Woe’s Whisper / Yao Guang | An enemy state applied by her Elation Skill that increases damage taken. | This is a target effect with its own duration, not the team’s Punchline resource. |
| Hidden MMR / Silver Wolf LV.999 | A personal resource gained with Punchline that enables her Ultimate and changes CRIT stats. | Its thresholds, overflow allowance and clearing rules belong to her Talent. |
| Fervor / Aventurine • Waveflair | A personal resource gained through specified actions that can trigger his Elation Skill. | Its cap and the enhanced next-skill behavior are specific to this kit, not the original Aventurine’s Blind Bet system. |
Read the condition before the payoff
- Identify the owner: the team, Aha, an individual Character or an enemy.
- Find the trigger: a turn, an attack, resource consumption or a named state.
- Check what is gained, consumed or merely taken into account.
- Separate an action from an additional damage instance and read its damage label.
- Check duration, caps and exceptions in the relevant ability, Trace and Eidolon.
Use Skill Points and Energy for the familiar resources, and Buffs, Debuffs & Cleansing for state and duration questions. Elation builds on those ideas, but its named resources and trigger rules need to be read on their own terms.
