Pulls, Pity & Guarantees

Separate the five-star counter from the featured guarantee. Understand Warp families, carry-over and collaboration rules before spending your passes.

A pull belongs to a particular Warp family

A Warp is a chance to obtain a Character or Light Cone from the pool shown on that Warp’s screen. The banner artwork identifies its featured content; the Warp family determines which rules and counters apply.

Before spending, open View Details on the chosen Warp. Check its family, obtainable items and guarantee rules. Two Warps using the same pass can still have entirely separate counters. The Banners resource shows availability; this guide explains the system behind the choice.

Pity and the featured guarantee answer different questions

Players use pity for progress toward the next guaranteed rarity. The five-star counter asks how many Warps have passed since the last five-star in that family. A five-star obtained early starts a fresh count; the maximum is a ceiling, not an appointment.

The featured guarantee instead determines which five-star you receive. An off-featured result can reset the five-star count while making the next five-star featured. “I am guaranteed” therefore does not mean the next single pull is a five-star.

Five-star ceilings and separate counter families
Warp familyFive-star ceilingWhat that ceiling promises

Light Cone Event80 WarpsA five-star Light Cone; featured status is a separate rule.
Stellar90 WarpsA five-star Character or Light Cone from its pool.
DepartureWithin its 50-Warp allowanceAt least one five-star Character, not an extra guaranteed one after an early result.
Fate[UBW] Character Collaboration90 WarpsA five-star Character within this separate collaboration family.

The table reflects the reviewed rules, not a prediction of your result. “Soft pity” describes a rising chance before the ceiling; it should not be treated as a guaranteed pull number. Plan around the documented guarantees rather than a claimed universal curve.

A Character Event miss changes the next five-star

If a Character Event Warp gives you a five-star other than its featured Character, your next five-star in that family is guaranteed to be the featured Character of the Warp you choose. Receiving the featured Character consumes that guarantee, whether it came early or at the ceiling.

The familiar “50/50” phrase is shorthand, not the complete current probability description. The documented unguaranteed draw has a 50% featured branch and another 50% branch drawing from the obtainable five-star pool. That second pool can include the featured Character too. Do not confuse the branch percentage with the total chance of receiving them.

Celestial Invitation lets you choose seven Characters from the available selection for the relevant pool. Check the current selection and any featured overlap in Details; it is not a free choice of whichever Character you want when the draw happens.

Light Cone Event Warp has its own rules

Light Cone Event Warp uses an 80-Warp five-star ceiling. An off-featured five-star makes the next five-star in that family featured. Its documented unguaranteed draw uses a 75% featured branch and a 25% obtainable-pool branch. As with Characters, read the complete pool description rather than turning a branch label into an assumed final rate.

A Character Event guarantee does not transfer here. Nor does owning a Character make their Light Cone guaranteed. Decide whether the equipment’s ability actually serves your build before starting a separate counter; Light Cone fundamentals explains what to compare.

Carry-over follows the family, not the picture

Character Event Warps share their counter and carry it into subsequent Character Event Warps. The Light Cone Event family does the same within its own Warps. Changing the featured artwork or reaching a new version does not turn either count into Stellar or collaboration progress.

For example, suppose you receive an off-featured Character and then make 30 more Character Event Warps without another five-star. Moving to another Character Event Warp preserves that progress and featured guarantee. Under the 90 ceiling, at most 60 additional Warps remain for the featured Character there. This is a budget ceiling, not a claim that all 60 will be needed.

From a fresh counter with no featured guarantee, two full ceilings give an ordinary worst-case budget of 180 for a Character Event target or 160 for a Light Cone Event target. Existing pity and guarantee status change that budget. Pulling merely to “build pity” can still produce a featured item now and reset the progress you meant to save for someone else.

Stellar and Departure are separate destinations

Stellar Warp is the permanent pool. Its five-star result can be a Character or Light Cone, and its 90-Warp ceiling does not promise a particular named item. It does not build a limited Character Event guarantee.

Departure Warp is the beginner offer: up to 50 Warps, in ten-Warp sets, at a 20% Star Rail Pass discount. Its promise is at least one five-star Character within that allowance. Getting one early already satisfies that promise; reaching the end is not a promise of a second one. Its count is independent.

A long-term collaboration is still its own family

The current Fate[UBW] Character Collaboration Warps share a counter with each other, including the two collaboration phases. Their Light Cone Collaboration Warps share a different counter with each other. Neither family borrows ordinary Event Warp pity.

Long-term availability does not make these Stellar Warps. The collaboration notice also specifies no featured four-star rate-ups in its Character or Light Cone Warps. Do not carry ordinary event-banner assumptions into them, or assume a future collaboration will use the same rules.

Check the current collaboration Details before spending. A login reward, exchange offer or separate spending milestone has its own conditions; it does not redefine the Warp counter merely because it appears beside the same characters.

Plan for the item you want, not just another gold result

Duplicate Characters contribute to their Eidolons until those are complete; surplus conversions follow the current reward rules. Duplicate Light Cones are equipment copies that can be kept or used for Superimposition. A duplicate five-star is still a five-star result for the relevant counter.

  • Choose the specific Warp and verify that the desired item is in its pool.
  • Check that family’s count and whether its next five-star is featured-guaranteed.
  • Set a stopping point you are comfortable with before spending.
  • Recheck Details when the Warp family or special-event rules change.

Use Banner History for past appearances and Rerun Tracker for return history. Neither is a promise of the next schedule. Current availability stays on Banners.
