Alleged Persona 1 remake footage surfaces, but its authenticity is in doubt

A two-minute video posted to Reddit purports to show a remake of the first Persona under the name Persona: Be Your True Mind. Its character choices have raised questions, and neither Sega nor Atlus has confirmed the footage. Persona producer Kazuhisa Wada has expressed interest in revisiting the early games, but has announced no such project.

A two-minute video posted to Reddit is circulating as possible footage of a remake of the original Persona. The clip uses the name Persona: Be Your True Mind, but its origin and authenticity remain unverified. Neither Sega nor Atlus had responded to it as of October 31.

The footage has drawn both interest and skepticism. Some viewers initially suspected it was AI-generated, while others pointed to its length and visual detail as reasons to take it seriously. Those impressions do not establish that it came from an Atlus project.

Two character details complicate the remake claim. GameMAG notes that Eriko appears to summon her Persona with a gesture very similar to Yukiko’s in the forthcoming Persona 4 Revival. The clip also features Tatsuya, the protagonist of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, who would not ordinarily belong in the first game’s story. The video could conceivably be an early concept presentation rather than footage of a finished remake, but that is speculation, not an explanation confirmed by its creator.

Fans have reason to be interested in a return to the early games, but not to treat the clip as confirmation. In August, Persona producer Kazuhisa Wada said he personally wanted to revisit the series’ earliest entries and make remakes, while also saying he could offer nothing definite. His interest provides context for the reaction to the video, but it does not establish that a remake is underway or that the footage is genuine.
